Time:-
The group met at 8.00 am for final touches. The bus departure was at 10.00 am. The beginning of Exhibition was at 11.15 and the treatment started at 12.00 due to organizational problems; we had no place in the exhibition! And the clinic was not ready as we requested! The end of the work was 4.30 p.m
Clinical report:-
Total number of registered patients = 212.
Total number of actually treated patients = 208
Distribution of patients according to treatment received:
1-Outpatient clinic:-
Included examination, consultation, referral to specific treatment clinics and prescription of medications. Total number = 198 patients (grand total).
2-Minor surgery clinic:-
Included simple tooth extractions, wisdom toot extractions, extraction of impacted teeth and minor surgical procedures. Total number of patients = 109 patients.

Wisdom tooth extractions = 21 patients.
Impacted tooth extraction = 6 patients.
Minor surgical procedures = 4 patients.
3-Periodontal treatment clinic:-

Curettage = 12 patients.
Oral hygiene instructions and mouth rinses was provided to all periodontal patients.
4-Conservative treatment clinic:-
Includes simple fillings (amalgam, temporary fillings, and a traumatic restorative treatment. Total number of conservation treatment = 6 patients.
N.B: This low number was due to some logistic problems, the health center was not well prepared in the way we requested in our contact meeting with the organizing committee of the celebration. We were ready to do about 35 fillings during this IVD.
5- Referral:-
Includes referral of suspected tumors or masses for further investigation and cases of patients needed specialized treatment. We will follow them in Faculty of dentistry, University of Khartoum and Khartoum Teaching dental Hospital. Total number of patients = 15 patients.
Infection control policy:-
A hot air oven was used for sterilization of instruments; disposable items were used, face masks; disposable gloves and lab coats were used during the clinical treatment.
Remarks:-
1-This big number of tooth extractions was largely due to poor oral hygiene and the low socioeconomic status of this community which prevents them from getting access to oral health care. Most of the cases were late stages of diseases; remaining roots; Periapical and periodontal abscesses. Thus there were no other options.
2-The registration of patients outside the clinic was 212 patients; some of them have waited along and went without visiting our outpatient dentist. This was because the organizers fail to secure good waiting place and they lack the organization inside the health center. The gate guard rejected some of the patients! And the disorganization waste considerable time.
3-There was a nonfunctioning dental clinic in the health center, it was obvious that this community in real need to this oral and dental care.
4-We were not able to secure this needed materials and consumables; hence we bought it by loans.
Exhibition and education report:-
We had posters, leaflets, pictures and models that demonstrate the common dental problems and the way to prevent it. Also Toombak dipping hazards and other hazardous habits. The main objective was to increase the awareness of this local community, targeted mainly students and mothers. It was supervised by 2 dentists with the active participation of the dental students. We have distributed about 500 information leaflets in Arabic to our stand visitors.
